Hi! I don't much pay attention to these fashion excesses, but now that I look at them, I must say I don't think the women or their stylists are doing a very nice job of picking dresses that enhance the woman. A lot of the dresses are overwhelming; the women are lost in them. Others dresses don't particularly flatter the women's natural beauty. My favorites are the red #9 of the closeups and the last brown dress on the left. Aren't you sorry you asked me? :-D

Gee, I missed this on TV. I don't recognize many of the celebs, but one I do and can't believe she'd strut her stuff in that dress is Heidi Klum...what was she thinking? I call that a flop and fault goes to both her and designer. Kim Kardashian looks great in her dress and my favorite is the Tadashi Shoji Brown dress that Archie Panjabi is wearing.

Hyland looks lovely, I think there are more misses than hits, I wonder if they didn't worry so much about who would make the biggest splash they might do a little better. I always love seeing all the dresses and you know....I guess you remember the bad ones more.

Major stylist/fashion error for Heidi Klum who is normally dressed to perfection...also for Mindy Kaling, but at least Heidi Klum should know better :-)

I don't know enough about fashion to say triumph or flop. I do know I totally love that purple dress and although it looks like a triumph, sadly it would be a flop if I wore it!

I love your style girl.

Thanks for linking to Alphabe-Thursday.

A+

Any of these girls would look good no matter what they wore.

I'm really useless on fashion; a pair of jeans and a hoodie are more my line. I do love the blue colour of the Armani though.

They're all lovely in my book! I think they all try so hard, and spend alot of time trying to look good. If I had to pick a favorite though, it would probably be either Nina Dobrey or Olivia Munn (RED! YAY!). This was a fun post!
Happy REDnesday!

I'm with Carol, they all try so hard to look their best that moment. Today I give it to the reds. Love your fun posts.

I love the dress Ms Sedwick is wearing ... but what was Heidi K. thinking? ~victoria~

Never really sure if I agree with a lot of these "best dress" lists. It could be because I'm the jeans and t-shirt type of gal and cannot determine what is considered "best dressed"... I think Kyra Sedgwich looks great in that dress but everyone else is sort of "eh" But that's just me though :)

I never pick the best dresses. When the commentators point out the best, it is never the one I picked.

FASHION! It is the only reason many of us watch the Emmys and the Academy Awards! I love it!

Hi Nora and Lola,

Great post and yes, some get it right and some don't.
My daughter and I sometimes like watching Fashion Police and Joan Rivers gives some a hard time.

Happy Thursday

Aaah! To look anything like these women I would give my youngest away LOL I'm not too excited about Rose Byrne ??? (spelling). It reminds me of some witch costumes I used to buy my kids. Anyhow, thanks for the visit. I love your new background...very artistic and different. Thanks for sharing! It was a lot of fun!

I missed this, but I think Christina Hendricks made a great choice -- the color is perfect with her coloring, and although the cut is classic and accentuates her curvy figure, the gown has some punch. Heidi Klum is just a little too tall for the dress she has on (though I'm sure my husband would beg to differ)!

Numbers 4, 14(it's okay, needs some spice) and 16(nicer if the bow was shorter?) are the ones that didn't work for me.

Love numbers 7 and 17.

A dress is a dress,, just a bit of baubbles and glitter tossed here and there.. the designers have not come up with anything new, how can they all designs are pretty much the same...

Some good; some not so good. I watch Project Runway for entertaining new fashions by wanna-be designers. It's a great show and Heidi Klum is wonderful as well as the judges!
One of my favorite shows!
Happy E Day!

Well, I didn't think any of them were atrocious - but I wasn't wowed either. But, I would love to have their bodies! Fun post!

The dresses are gorgeous, but I'd just get spray paint on them.

*Sigh* What I wouldn't give to have an excuse to dress up like that and have someone do my hair and makeup and look like a movie star for one night. Again *sigh*.

I also am a huge "star watcher". I love the magazines that show what the stars wore to the awards shows.

Great post!

For the most part, what gorgeous gowns. I went to the Oscars last year, and I have to say that I have a much more open mind about the "misses" than I would have had from watching at home. Many of the women are trying to stand out from the pack and wear more original gowns. A lot of them actually play better in person than in pictures or on tv. Some are truly awful, though!

I think the dresses, for the most part are quite lovely. (But I am not sure Heidi Klum's dress actually qualifies and a dress. It looks more like a sequined sports jumper.) It's who the dresses are on and the context that makes them hits or misses. The green dress is a little too casual for the Emmys, IMHO. Anna Paquin's dress would me more suited for a Gladiator themed party. But, at the end of the day, I wouldn't pass up wearing any of those dresses if I had the chance. - G

I usually don't watch but I always read the Best Dressed/Worst Dressed stuff online & in magazines lol I think the stylist is the one that dresses them so they get most the blame if the women look horrible. But the woman herself should have enough judgment to know whether she should be wearing that or not.

MAJOR mistake for Heidi Klum...who normally is fabulous. I'm not really loving any of them to be honest!
